Help! I'm throwing a jungle themed baby shower and have no clue what to do!
Ok, so maybe your baby shower planning is a little less dramatic than that (at least we hope it is). Planning a baby shower is a fun way to show that special mama-to-be that you care. With a few fun and coordinated details you can make that jungle theme come to life.
The first thing your guests will see is the invitation. Get creative and have fun with it! A custom, handmade invitation will help set the tone for the party and let everyone know what the theme is. Is the shower sophisticated and elegant or fun and laid back? A jungle themed invite definitely needs a fun and creative twist. A brightly colored monkey invitation is the perfect way to bring the jungle to the party. You can be sure that the perfect invitation will get guests talking and let everyone know that you are ready to go bananas at this jungle shower.
What next? The cake..... a diaper cake, that is! Everyone knows you will have a yummy cake at the shower. It will probably be decorated in the mama-to-be's chosen colors with cute little animals on top. Sounds good, right? If you ask me, I'd say a diaper cake sounds even better (but I'm probably a little biased) =oP. A diaper cake makes a great centerpiece and conversation piece and is a great way to add to the decorations at the shower. Not only does it make for great decorating but it also makes a great gift for the mama-to-be! Choose a diaper cake that is decorated to coordinate with the invitations for a finished look.
Looking for the creative touch of a diaper cake in a smaller portable package? Why not try adding some diaper cupcakes to the mix? Present them in a traditional cupcake box as a gift or spread them out individually as decoration. Bring in the colors of the jungle. Blues, greens, yellows and browns will turn those diaper cupcakes into treats that look almost good enough to eat! Just like the diaper cake, these bite sized treats can also be taken home and used by the mama-to-be.
Have fun and go bananas for your jungle themed baby shower!

I Play Favorites... With My Creative Designs
One of the best parts of my job is getting to take unique shower and party themes and finding creative ways to turn them into something beautiful and fun. What could be more fun than taking something different and turning it into a diaper cake or shower invitation? Ok... so maybe I'm one of the few out there that really find that to be a highlight of my day ;-). In all seriousness, I really do love the challenge of taking unique ideas and bringing them to life.
Since starting my business, I've had the pleasure of designing many different styles of cakes and invitations. Some of my favorite custom creations have come from special themes. Some of them have been challenging but all of them have been such fun to create!
I have to admit that when a client came to me with this first diaper cake request, I wondered whether I could really achieve the look they wanted. The timeline for delivery was short and the baby shower theme was definitely one I had never come across before. Yet, I knew with a little creative thinking I could put together something that would be the talk of the party.
This particular client needed a robot diaper cake for a robot themed baby shower. Danger Will Robinson, Danger! How do you turn a bunch of diapers into a cake that looks like a robot? That was the first question that came to mind. In the end, I was able to pull together a design that I think put a little whimsy into a practical gift. A flashing reflective light, buttons for eyes and a safety pin for a mouth turned a lifeless stack of diapers into lively robotic gift. I was able to incorporate all the usual baby items in a standard diaper cake while still creating a unique piece that has become one of my favorite designs.
For this next design, I created a matching diaper cake and handmade invitation. When the client first came to me with the theme of the baby shower, an Air Jordan theme, I wasn't quite sure how to turn the idea into something that could work. I took a shot (yes, that was a cheap pun :-p) at a design that I knew would be the talk of the party and that the client and mother to be would love. I was able to design a fun diaper cake with a matching handmade invitation that brought the Air Jordan theme to life.
The red and black colors on the diaper cake brought in the traditional Air Jordan colors, while I was also able to bring in the theme with Air Jordan baby items that also featured Jordan, the baby's name. A plush basketball rattle topped off the cake and brought a fun element to a unique theme. The red and black design was continued in the handmade shower invitations. Sports themed fonts brought it in the basketball and Air Jordan theme, while the red ribbon closer added just the right touch of handmade charm to the invite. This set has become one of my favorites. The client received a design that was unique and no one will be able to say that they had the same design at their shower!
Being given the privilege to create such wonderful and fun designs for my clients is what it's all about. I can't wait to create and share the next batch of designs with everyone!
